A tastefully converted cottage ( originally a barn ) with wooden floors and beams throughout. Situated in the small hamlet of \' La Gonterie \' just 8 kms from the beautiful town of Brantome.Brantome is an island town set between two branches of the River Dronne. Also known as the \' Venice of the Perigord \' it boasts an ancient abbey, an eleventh century bell tower and cave dwellings. Many summertime activities take place on and beside the river. Fishing, swimming and canoeing are favourite past times. Bike hire is also available. There is a busy weekly market and a good variety of shops and banks. Eating out is a way of life here and Brantome offers a good selection of restaurants. At nearby Champagnac de Belair and Bourdeilles there are public swimming pools and tennis courts.
The cottage offers the peace and quiet of a small rural French village with the added opportunity to visit some of the most beautiful towns that the Dordogne has to offer.It consists of a tiled kitchen / dining room with washing machine, gas cooker, microwave and fridge. A pleasant sitting room with French doors opening on to a small balcony. Two double bedrooms with king size beds and two bathrooms. There is a shared courtyard in front of the cottage for parking. N.B. La Gonterie Blanche can be rented together with la Gonterie Verte property ref number 24101 & Au Coin ref number 24676 for parties of up to 14 with private pool.
