	Charente - self-catering holiday homes near Confolens. Holiday rentals near Confolens in South West France. Self catering holiday accommodation in the Charente near Confolens. Cottage to rent with pool. Our cottage is named after the red squirrels that we often see along our street and in the gardens round about. This is an area of outstanding beauty and is abounding with wild life, including a great many varieties of birds such as ospreys, buzzards, kites and owls. It is also an area of France steeped in history with Megaliths and Roman Thermal Baths at Chassenon.
Our cottage is in the little village of Lesterps. Poitiers airport is an hour away and Limoges airport only half an hour making our cottage an ideal base while looking for property in the surrounding area as well as for spending a relaxing holiday. It is available all year round. In the village we have an alimentation, boucherie/ charcuterie, post office, a bar / restaurant and also an 11th – 12th Century Abbey. Lesterps is 9kms from the medaieval town of Confolens which stands on the River Vienne and where in the month of August there is a week long dance and music festival and there are many other local attractions. Limoges, famous for its pottery and Cognac, famous for brandy where one can visit the distilleries and sample the brandy of Remy Martin, Martell, Courvoisier, Hennessy as well as other less well known brandies is only one and a quarter hours away are both worth a visit as is Oradour - sur - Glane 25 km away which is a Second World War destroyed village with a visitor centre. There is also Futuorscope Science Park at Poitiers. There is a swimming pool in Confolens and the lake at Etagnac just 20 minutes away is a great way to pass a day swimming, sunbathing or fishing. Slightly further away are Les Lacs de Haute Charente where there are swimming lakes and water sports. There are also some very good restaurants in the nearby vicinity featuring local cuisine. Our cottage is the middle one of three. Downstairs there is a room stretching the length of the cottage. To the front is the kitchen and eating area along with the sink, water heater, fridge, fridge/freezer, cooker, mini oven and micro- wave while to the back, looking out on to the garden is the living area with a three piece suite, cabinets, occasional table, television and telephone. Upstairs are two double bedrooms each with a double bed and a bathroom housing a shower, wash hand basin and W.C.. There is an electric heater in both of the bedrooms and one each at the kitchen and living ends downstairs. Although it says that the house sleeps 4, there is room for 7 in total with the sofa turning into a double bed and a single folding bed in the front bedroom where there is also a small camp bed and travel cot for younger children. The garden is large with room to play, eat or relax. You can also cool off in our new 15ft plunge pool. Round the corner from the house is our garage on top of which is the grenier opening out into the garden. This is where the washing machine is situated and there is also a second W/C and wash hand basin supplying cold water in there.
Cost of renting :- Low Season ( November – February ) £150 per week or £25 per night per part week Mid Season ( March and October ) £225 per week or £35 per night per part week High Season ( April – September ) £ 385 per week or £60 per night per part week. These rates are for up to 4 persons sharing. Over and above 4 persons please add an extra £25 per person per week or an extra £5 per person per night per part week. There is a 10% discount for lettings of two weeks or more and we also offer concessions for people who, due to either purchasing or renovating a property would like to use our cottage as a base regularly until moving into their own place. Bed linen and bath sheets can be provided at the cost of £25 for four persons plus £5 per extra person. We also offer an end of stay cleaning service for £25.
