This exquisite holiday cottage is on the Charente-Dordogne border, about an hour and a half from Bordeaux and the coast, and 20 minutes South of the city of Angoulême.
Attached to a sixteenth century farmhouse, this self-contained cottage has recently been renovated to a high standard. Whilst retaining original features such as massive oak beams and a stone fireplace, it also provides modern conveniences such as a modern kitchen, washing machine, TV/DVD/Video (Sheets, towels etc. are provided and electricity and fuel are included in the price.) Downstairs is a large living room with open views, a wood-burning stove, sofa bed, dining area and kitchen. Upstairs is a large bedroom with a double and single bed, screen, lounge area with a view of the garden and open countryside, a shower room/WC.. The cottage has a barbecue/patio area; a brand new swimming pool, and bicycles are also available for hire. A taxi service is available to and from the airport or station, as is the provision of groceries if required, at an extra cost. The cottage is set in large gardens with panoramic views looking West to the château at Villebois Lavalette, and South to the Dordogne. It is an area of quiet, unspoilt charm with a wonderful sunny climate and friendly people.
The cottage is also ideal for house-hunters, or those wishing to stay somewhere whilst waiting to move house. With its wood-burning stove, good accessibility to airports, and peaceful situation, it is a wonderful place to go for a winter break to get away from the pressures of work.
